Two Formulas to Summarize Every Angle of AI/Software Conversations Taking Place Today
Let's make it easy on what we're all talking about in the AI and Software
At the crux of the AI conversation, especially as it relates to the evolution of “software” can be boiled down to two possible outcomes in most proponents minds:
B2B —> BB
B —> X
The arrow —> generally means evolution.
B2B —> BB
In this evolution, many pundits say that B2B software of the likes of vertical market software companies like Constellation Software ($CSU.to) or Salesforce ($CRM) will no longer be required as a B2B partner to businesses.
The double ‘B’ is to denote that there’s more of the software tools/workflows etc. being in-housed by the end-business itself. In a way they are building their own business within their own business (if you will, including the need to maintain it from here on out.)
And we’ve heard stories of people vibe-coding their own software and firing their B2B software providers.
B —> X
Then there the others that are imagining a world where the organization itself will forever change.
The change here means that the business itself will become this evolved thing whereby all their data and people and functions and depts and roles and jobs and robots will be transformed forever. Like it did in the first industrial revolution. Except this time, it’ll be even more dramatic that none of us can even fathom, to the point where many humans will need to live on subsistence in order to survive even.
Well.
In the future we’ll address these, but I wanted to lay out what I’ve been reading for 24+ months now on how there will be the death of software, the death of jobs, the death of meaningful work etc.
Mostly it’s for my own sanity as I hear time and time again these narratives.
